Grindelwald offers our guests many attractions

Grindelwald FIRST: Top of Adventure

Grindelwald First, also known as “Top of Adventure”, is a popular excursion destination for our guests in Grindelwald. It offers a wide range of outdoor activities and breathtaking views. Here are some of the main attractions:

  • First Cliff Walk by Tissot:
A spectacular suspension bridge that winds along the cliff face and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain landscape.

  • First Flyer:
A thrilling zipline where you are attached to a harness and travel down the mountain at high speed.

  • First Glider:
A flying device that takes up to four people at a time and gives them the feeling of flying. You float down the mountain on a rope.

What is the Eiger Express?

It is a three-cable gondola lift connecting the Grindelwald Terminal with the Eigergletscher station.

It was opened in December 2020.

Advantages and special features:

  • Fast access to the Jungfraujoch: The Eiger Express reduces the travel time to the Jungfraujoch (“Top of Europe”) by an impressive 47 minutes. From Grindelwald Terminal, you can reach the Eiger Glacier in just 15 minutes, where you can transfer directly to the Jungfrau Railway or access the ski area around Kleine Scheidegg.

  • Impressive views: The ride offers spectacular views of the Eiger North Face and the surrounding mountains.

  • State-of-the-art technology: The Eiger Express is considered one of the most modern three-cable ropeways in the world. It was built by Doppelmayr/Garaventa and is characterized by its efficiency, stability (even in windy conditions), and comfort.

Our recommendation:
Your trip to the Top of Europe with the Jungfrau Railway to the highest railroad station in Europe

A highlight of every Grindelwald vacation is the trip to the Jungfraujoch - the Top of Europe. The highest railroad station in Europe is located at 3454 meters above sea level.

An alpine wonderland of ice, snow and rock awaits you, which you can admire from viewing platforms, on the Aletsch Glacier or in the Ice Palace.

The train ride from Grindelwald station to the Jungfraujoch through the middle of the Eiger and Mönch is an experience you simply must not miss.

Grindelwald is a true winter paradise

Grindelwald is an absolute top destination for winter sports enthusiasts and offers an impressive variety that leaves nothing to be desired.

Jungfrau Ski Region:
Grindelwald is part of the huge Jungfrau Ski Region, which offers a total of over 200 kilometers of slopes in the Grindelwald-Wengen, Grindelwald-First, and Mürren-Schilthorn areas. All of these areas can be accessed with a single ski pass.

Grindelwald-Wengen:
This area is known for its wide slopes, which are suitable for both beginners and advanced skiers. It is also home to the world-famous Lauberhorn World Cup downhill run, which is open to the public after the races.

Grindelwald-First:
This sun-drenched ski resort is characterized by its varied slopes, which are often exposed to the sun. It is particularly popular with freestylers and snowboarders, as it offers the “White Elements Snowpark” with halfpipe, kickers, and rails. Beginners will also find ideal conditions here with a special “slow zone.”

All levels of difficulty:
From gentle blue slopes for beginners and families to challenging black runs and ski routes, there is something for every type of skier.
